April and May involved a lot of filling and emptying suitcases as I traveled to many different states and spoke in many churches (CT, MA, NH, and NY). In each place I enjoyed meeting new people and having opportunities to encourage and pray with people in each place. It was wonderful to watch God inspire and encourage the young people in these churches as I shared what God has done in my life and what He is doing around the world, especially in Nicaragua.
In April, a church in CT voted to partner with me in the work in Nicaragua! Also in April
a church in Massachusetts had me participate in their 4-day missions conference. What a joy to be with this group of missions-minded people and to share my passion for Nicaragua and missions with adults and children alike.
One Sunday while at another church in CT, God impressed on me to spend more of my presentation talking about how I and others came to receive salvation and a personal relationship with Jesus (and less time on missions). Little did I know that on that particular day one of the ladies had invited a friend who didn’t know Jesus. Afterwards the pastor told me that the visitor had started asking a lot of questions about how to be forgiven and become a child of God!!! This is why we call this season of preparation, “pre-field ministry.” God can use even this time for ministry.
In May, it was an enormous privilege to be the speaker at a Ladies Brunch in NY. In preparing that talk about what God had taught me while in Nicaragua, God spoke to my own heart. The same lessons I learned there I need to re-learn here: Who He Is, Who I am in Christ, and that My Peace and Joy are found in Him. Almost daily lessons about trusting Him and finding my joy in Him. And the time at the Ladies Brunch was fabulous, seeing God use these life lessons to be a blessing to others.
Another time, I visited a Spanish-Speaking church. They too have an amazing heart for missions both in their own area and around the world. Being back in a Spanish environment made me feel so at home.
UPCOMING CHURCH MEETINGS:
May 30 = 2ndChurch of Dorchester, Dorchester, MA
If you would like to have me come share in your church, home, or group, I would love to come. If you know of other churches or individuals who might be interested, I would love referrals.
The first 2 weeks of May, ABWE (my mission agency) had me take a training class online. This class went well and opened up my understanding of what is truly involved in partnering for the work of missions. I look forward to sharing more about this with each of you, in the coming weeks and months.
