Happy to report my transition back to CT has been fairly quiet. Everyone hear keeps telling me that the weather has been milder than Dec/Jan was, so I guess Nicaragua packed a little of its warmth in my suitcases to bring back with me. However until yesterday my body kept thinking it was locked in a deep-freeze ;-)
Thankfully there hasn't been any snow to speak of, so driving has been a breeze. After driving in Managua all those months, Hartford traffic seems fast and simple. Old friends will be happy to know that my "speedy gonzalez" driving of yore, has come down to a much more subdued rate of speed thanks to Nicaragua's very low speed limits.
I'm still getting my brain used to the fact that school buses here are ACTUALLY school buses. Glad the other cars set me a good example about stopping when the lights start flashing. In Nica, the school buses are public transport buses and we were always HAPPY to pass them when they stop ;-)
Trying hard to get used to schedules, checklists, and people being in a hurry. Getting used to visits being short and planned well in advance. Still almost need a map to navigate some of the stores here :-)
