FUND RAISING FOR VEHICLE:
Well a surprise has come my way over the last few weeks. I learned that I will need a car of my own by the end of year, and even now it would be very useful to have my own transportation both for personal use and ministry needs. This was SO NOT on my radar when I came down here. But as my sister reminded me “God already knew all about this. He’s got this.”
So would you join me in praying that God would provide the vehicle He wants for me and in the interim provide transportation as needed?
I’ve set a goal to raise $13,500
(This will cover the cost of a reliable used car $10,000, plus $3,500 to cover insurance, parking, registration, etc.)
If you would like to give to this fund. You can give

TEEN CAMP
The first week of January our 4 oldest teens attended a week-long teen leadership camp at Centro ABEM and I went along with them. It was run by one of the missionaries along with a whole team of Nicaraguans. They did a fantastic job. There were 70 teens from churches around the country. My role was crowd control, prayer, encouraging the camp counselors, and being there for our 4 teens. It was a challenge to not be able to communicate with them, and all week I wondered how much they were getting out of the week, whether anything was penetrating (hard to read teens sometimes). Well it was a wonderful surprise during the bonfire on the last night when 3 of our teens stood up with many of the other teens to indicate they were ready to follow whatever plans Jesus has for their lives!!! So Cool!
Two weeks after they got back from camp, we had them lead a service at the church in SJdS. They did the music, Bible reading, prayer, and shared their testimonies. It was fabulous and to top off the day, 2 other teens who were visiting prayed to receive Jesus as Savior at the end of the service.
PROGRESS ON RESIDENCY CARD
Happy to report that on January 20, an immigration official came to my house and interviewed me. This is the next step toward obtaining a 12-month residency card, so that I don’t have to keep renewing my visa every month.
OTHER HAPPENINGS
One of my English class students visited our church a couple of weeks ago.
Three weeks ago, while out with Diane and one of our church ladies, we stopped to visit one of my neighbors who is in her 80s. While we visited, they shared with her about Jesus, and she prayed to received Jesus as her Savior. So Cool!
On Saturday the 21st, I went with our young people to a neighboring barrio, where we did a puppet presentation for the children in that community.
The past 8 days I was on my own here in SJdS, while the Larges were back in the US. During that week God helped me make good progress on my Spanish, so much so, that Friday, Saturday, Sunday I was able to have many conversations entirely in Spanish. On Saturday night, with the Young People’s group, I was able to do the whole evening without a translator. (Now the conversations were mostly very basic, but at least communication was happening.)
