My home church had a family-fun night and I got to surprise the whole group by joining through a video call to give a live update on Nicaragua. (If any of you would like to schedule a video call, please contact me.)
Two different times now I’ve gone on visitation by myself (i.e. with no interpreter), and one time I even was able to take one of our teen girls along with me. It was exciting to see God open doors and give courage.
Two college graduates are down here interning for a couple of months: Pete & Jacob are being a huge help down here with construction, youth group, music, and outreach. And thanks to them more opportunities are opening up. With them, I've been able to go out visiting people in parts of town or during times of day I would not have otherwise attempted. They have even established a connection with the director of a local school, where in addition to talking about careers and English training, they have also been able to talk about Jesus.
Two Saturday’s ago, I hosted a youth event at my house and it was exciting to see that ½ of the group were first timers (Neighborhood kids that I invited).
Earlier this month was also the first time I taught Sunday School in Spanish. (A very basic lesson)
During February we visited a hospital a few times and had the opportunity to sing for and read the Bible with people in the general wards. I also visited some of my neighbors at the critical care clinic or in their homes who were battling health issues. There are a lot of people here with cancer and other serious situations.
This past week I was up in the capital city for a mission team meeting and was able to have a much needed dental appointment. During my time there I was also able to help out with a ladies’ bible study, an AWANA program, and a church retreat for another church plant our missionaries are involved with.
Each week has its surprises good and bad. There are spiritual battles waging in minds and hearts. I have my times of struggle. But God keeps me going and He is showing His love and faithfulness. "The Lord is the one who goes ahead of you; He will be with you, He will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed." Deuteronomy 31:8
