This time last year was when I connected online with Andy & Diane Large and God clarified that Nicaragua and specifically San Juan del Sur was where He wanted me to be. Wow, has a lot happened since then! Some of you have been part of this journey since before that time and others of you have recently joined the team. Glad to have you all as part of this journey.
New Adventure: Tomorrow morning I hit the road early for an entirely new experience. Iglesia Bautista de la fe (a Spanish-speaking church in Queens, NY) has invited me to come and share about the work in Nicaragua. So friends, tomorrow I get to try to share in Spanish (at least in part – mostly through a translator) about missions in Nicaragua.
God provided a friend to translate my video script and just tonight I finished dubbing the video in Spanish. A kind person would say my dubbing is “interesting”, but I pray that God uses it tomorrow with the Latino believers in Queens (They will be tested in long-suffering as they endure my butchering of their language ;-). Looking forward to meeting them and hearing what God is doing in their neighborhood as well.
Last month: January was rather quiet, but at the end of the month I had a wonderful visit with the people at Rockville Baptist, where I had the chance to share with a combined group of adults and teens. They were an enthusiastic bunch and I was blessed to be with them.
February: So after visiting churches throughout the Northeast, I was reminded to share an update with the folks at my own home church. It’s been 10 months since I last publically shared there, so last Sunday night it was great to update them in person regarding everything that has been happening.
God Providing: My funding has jumped from 50% to 59%. A couple new monthly supporters and a number of one-time gifts came in during the last four weeks. Just think, the remaining 40% could be covered by either:
13 people at $100/month,
26 people at $50/month, or
51 people at $25/month.
Yesterday I was astoundingly blessed, when out of the blue, my dentist provided me with a night guard free of charge! What an unexpected, but much needed service. (If you ever need a good dentist, let me know and I’ll refer you ;-).
Upcoming Events: Just when I was wondering whether I’d ever hear back from more churches, two contacted me this week. So now, in March I’ll be at a church in Dublin, NH which surprisingly invited me even though they are currently without a pastor. (Yes our God works outside the box.)
Then I spent an hour on the phone with a pastor in Ames, NY who is sending a team down to help Andy & Diane Large in June. Hopefully I’ll be visiting their church in April, to help their team prepare for a 10-day trip to help with Vacation Bible School in San Juan del Sur. I’m thrilled at what they are doing and can’t wait to meet them and share details of life in Nicaragua.
Feel free to pass on this email to other people you think might be interested in the work in Nicaragua. They are welcome to contact me.
How to Give: If you are interested in getting involved financially, you can mail a check to ABWE, International, PO Box 8585, Harrisburg, PA 17105. Include a note that it is for Account #0191681/Mulder, Jessica. All gifts are tax deductible. Or give online: http://www.abwe.org/give/online
Have a great Sunday everyone.
