“Seek the Lord and His strength; seek His presence continually” 1 Chronicles 16:11. When you are in a place in life that doesn’t seem to make sense, God says look to Me for strength.
Here in CT, God has brought several new families alongside as monthly financial and prayer partners. Currently at 34%, four whole points since July!!!
What else has God been doing here in the USA lately? Well thanks to modern technology, God has allowed me the opportunity to continue a Bible Study with Coni down in Nicaragua, and also start a Bible study with a young woman here in CT. Rejoicing that God is using these studies to help them and myself to be stretched and grow in our personal walks with Jesus.
You never know when God will bring someone across your path who has needs which turn into wide open conversations about Jesus. People to whom you can show Christ’s love. While on the West Coast visiting family and attending a school reunion, God arranged that there be an Uber driver from Argentina who was longing to have someone with whom to speak Spanish. During that ride chatting about family and life, there were opportunities to talk about Jesus.
On the flight home, God placed an 40 year-old man with Downs Syndrome next to me, who was lonely and needed a friend. It was an unexpected chance to share God’s love and care for him and talk about what God did in my life and wants to do for every person.
At work several young co-workers are going through some tough times and God has opened doors to show His love and speak encouraging truths to them. One in particular is very open to conversations about the Bible.
It has been a joy in recent weeks to get back to my home church and God is allowing opportunities to sub with children and teen ministry events. Looking forward to seeing where God leads these little ones in their lives.
Thank you all for your ongoing concern and prayers for Nicaragua. A few weeks ago, two of our team members went down to Nicaragua to check on the status of the situation first hand. What they found is that things are getting indeed becoming quieter and calmer (but mostly because people are afraid of the ongoing government crackdowns. Since the people are now being silent, the violence against them is lessening.)
Due to the last 4 months of chaos, there has been no tourism, which is a mainstay of their economy. Many places have closed and many more people are out of work.
Since April, 23,000 Nicaraguans have left their homeland looking for refuge or jobs in the countries next door to them (most went to Costa Rica).
My teammates hope to return at the end of this year, but are all very aware that the Nicaragua we left will be very different from the country they will be returning to. However this also means there will be many more opportunities to serve, help, and share the gospel. Pray that God shows the team what some of these new or different ministry opportunities might be.
If you are interested in hosting an open house at your home or small group, to allow others to hear about the ministry in Nicaragua, please contact me.
