How was your Easter/Passover weekend? Hope you had a wonderful time.
Philippians 2:8-9 "And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name. . ."
It was very special to be involved in my home church’s Easter service this year. What an amazing time of singing and being reminded afresh of all that our Savior did for us – his amazing sacrifice and the incredible power of the resurrection! We need these reminders as we go about our busy lives.
A few of the other missionaries in Nicaragua have recently updated me about what is happening there. While things are outwardly quiet, things are still tense as the government is flexing it’s muscles and people have retreated into silence. Sadly the economy is even poorer than it was before. Pray for jobs for believers and for protection and wisdom for all those who fled and are still living in neighboring countries. Due to the upheaval and ongoing national issues, my fellow missionaries have had a lot of changes in their ministry opportunities. Pray for guidance and provision for them as they seek what God desires for them and their ministries.
Pray for churches that are in need of pastors. Andy & Diane Large are returning to San Juan del Sur next week to try to finish the parsonage project and to continue to help find a Nicaraguan pastor to fully take over the work there. (Right now a pastor from another town is filling in when he can).
Earlier in this letter I mentioned about the reminders Easter gives. Those could not have come at a better time. It has been a long 14 months since I came back to the USA, with many changes & challenges both here and back in Nicaragua. Lately I’ve been battling discouragement seeing a long road still ahead to getting back overseas.
God has provided for me to head north for the weekend starting Friday. It will be a time to get away and get alone with God; to pray and seek His face and His direction.
PRAYER REQUESTS:
- That God will use this time away to refresh and renew and refocus me. That He will bring clarity and vision for what He wants to accomplish in and through me.
- That God will heal the insomnia I’ve been battling the last two months
- God to open new avenues to build support.
- For peace and safety for all in Nicaragua
Yet in the middle of this dry season, over the last month the Lord has brought up a number of opportunities (often impromptu) to mentor younger women in small ways, often as they were facing unique situations. Cool that God can use some of my life stories, and events from the past to be an encouragement and help to others. (Even sharing failures, as examples of what not to do, or what to avoid).
On May 26th I’ll be speaking at Heritage Baptist in Windham, NH.
If you have prayer requests that I can pray about with you, please reach out to me. If you, your small group, or church would like to have me come share about missions, I’d love the opportunity.
